Meet Zenna, Miss Black Oregon Candidate
Her platform centers on health, wellness and creativity

Zenna Nwokoma is honored to represent Clackamas County as she competes for the title of Miss Black Oregon. Through her journey, Nwokoma hopes to highlight her platform, personal experiences and commitment to making a positive impact within Oregon’s Black community.
As a candidate for Miss Black Oregon, Nwokoma is focused on using her voice and platform to inspire others, celebrate the Black community and contribute to positive change across the state. Her participation in the competition provides an opportunity to share her story while connecting with and uplifting communities throughout Oregon.
Zenna’s platform centers on health, wellness and creativity, with an emphasis on making healthy living approachable, sustainable and empowering. Through her platform, she hopes to encourage individuals to make simple, realistic changes to their everyday lifestyles, including developing healthier eating habits, prioritizing self-care, staying active and building confidence.
For Zenna, wellness is about creating lasting habits that support both physical and mental well-being while encouraging individuals to feel confident in their own journey.
A particularly important part of Zenna’s mission is empowering young girls and young men within the Black community, ages 12–40, to recognize their value, embrace their individuality and develop confidence in who they are. She believes wellness extends beyond physical health; it also includes mental well-being, creativity, self-expression, confidence and having a strong sense of purpose.
Through her platform, Zenna hopes to create encouragement and opportunities for young people to prioritize their well-being, discover their strengths and feel empowered to become the best versions of themselves.
With experience in healthcare, Zenna has seen firsthand the importance of education, prevention and taking care of ourselves before health concerns become more serious. She hopes to use her voice and platform to show that healthy choices do not have to be complicated or restrictive. Small, consistent changes, she believes, can lead to meaningful improvements in overall health and quality of life.
Zenna’s participation in Miss Black Oregon is about more than competition. It is an opportunity for her to connect with the community, collaborate with local organizations and creatives, inspire the next generation, and create meaningful conversations around health, wellness, confidence and representation.
Join Zenna as she steps onto the stage to represent her vision and celebrate the incredible women and community that make this experience so meaningful. The event will take place September 20 from 2–4 p.m. at Jefferson High School, 5210 N. Kerby Ave., Portland, OR 97217.
