Local Students to Receive Free Back to School Supplies

OnPoint is matching donations during the KGW School Supply Drive

OnPoint Community Credit Union will begin accepting school supply donations during the month of August to help local teachers and students. The credit union will distribute donations with the help of Schoolhouse Supplies, a local nonprofit that provides free school supplies to under-resourced students and classrooms across the Portland area. OnPoint will also give an additional $5 for every $1 donated to the KGW School Supply Drive at any OnPoint branch between August 1-7, 2026*.

The drive, which runs from August 1-31, 2026, aims to send 15,000 students across Oregon and Southwest Washington back to school with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom. All donations will stay in the community in which they are made.   

"Every student deserves to walk into the classroom feeling prepared for the year ahead," said Rob Stuart, president and chief executive officer, OnPoint Community Credit Union. "When our community comes together for this annual drive, we're helping remove barriers to learning and giving students the opportunity to focus on what matters most. By partnering with Schoolhouse Supplies, we can reach even more local students and teachers. We encourage our members and neighbors to join us in making a difference."

As part of this year's drive, OnPoint will host a collection event where the community can drop off new school supplies and cash donations at its Reed’s Crossing Branch (7833 SE Blanton Street, Hillsboro, OR 97129). To learn more or review other drop-off locations, please visit KGW.com/School.

The OnPoint Collection Event will take place on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Reed's Crossing Branch. Please drop off your donations at the Schoolhouse Supplies/OnPoint table located in the parking lot outside the branch.
